I’m Kevin King, and I’ve spent my whole life right here in Independence. I went to school here, raised my family, and coached baseball, basketball, and football. I’ve led scout troops and dedicated my entire career to the trades. Many folks know me from the Roofers Union, Local 20, where I served as Business Manager. Throughout my life, I’ve fought for working people at the bargaining table, on job sites, and inside city halls where too many voices get ignored.
I’m not a politician; I’m a tradesman, a husband, a dad, a grandfather, and someone who believes public service should actually mean something.
I’m running for Mayor because Independence needs leadership that shows up, tells the truth, and makes decisions with the people of this city—not behind closed doors. Right now, too many buildings sit empty, too many families feel squeezed, and too many people have stopped believing local government is working for them. I understand your concerns, but I also believe we can turn this around.
The values I was raised on are hard work, honesty, and showing up for your neighbors. They are the same values I’ve instilled in my kids, and they are the same values I’ll bring to City Hall.
Together, we can restore Independence leadership and get this city back on track.
